My son is 9 and been shooting 4H BB Gun for 3 years now and we started CMP at out local range for the summer. He wants a mag fed LH .22 with peep sights. I know Savage has one and will likely go that route but it does not come with good peep sights. For now he is using my 10/22 and another option would be good peep sights for that if you have any.

The Tech Sights for the 10-22 are nice. http://www.tech-sights.com/

Tech Sights makes sights for many popular .22s, including Marlin 60, Remington 597, and CZ452.

Look into a CZ 452 LUX, I purchased one many years ago I don't think it came with a peep sight but I installed a aftermarket one and also did a trigger mod, I purchased the stuff from Eric Brooks but I don't think he is in business anymore

My daughter is a lefty the most economical left handed 22 for a junior is the savage mark ll.She used it in 3 national matches at Camp Perry, peep sights can be purchased for it,but keep in mind peep sights are considered an optic and therfore compete at the score brackets with scoped rifles

Savage makes 3 different left bolt 22s.

Mark II BVTL/BVTLSS (7.5#, nicely balanced) I own this one - weaver mounts. For competition, you will need to add sights of your choice.
Stainless, Bull barrel, MSPR 469, street ~370

Mark II GLY (Youth model, 5#) Comes wth V notch/post. D/T for scope mounts. Standard barrel. MSRP 240. don't know street price

Mark II GL (5.5#) V-notch/post. D/T for scope mounts. Standard barrel.
MSRP 240. don't know street price

main difference between the GL and the GLY is about 2" overall length, with the GL being shorter.
