Ithaca 1911A1 hardened slides
Meadows' book indicates that slides on Ithaca 1911A1s shipped on / after 12/9/44 were modified by hardening and elimination of the recoil plate. Thanks to thebearpack and now the book, I know that my Ithaca shipped on 2/20/45 and should then fall into this group with hardened slides.

Does anyone have any additional information on these slides and how they have performed over the years? Many thanks.

Many thanks for the info danduf98. Is your slide uniform in color without signs of spot or area hardening?

its a dry grey from its repark after rebuild but if you look really hard you can see the darker heat treat areas that will be visible after oiling it

Yep, mine is a light grey that has almost certainly been reparked though no arsenal rebuild stamps. I did not see darker heat treat spots around the slide stop notch or towards the muzzle when I first did the paperwork at the FFL. Will take a much closer look when I pick it up after the waiting period
