Surprising find
I decided to finally start rebuilding my collection (slowly) now that we have somewhat settled in Idaho. So I decided to check out a gun show, that was conveniently located 2 blocks from my house, and found some .276 Penderson ammo still sealed in the box. My thoughts is that it is for the M1 Garand testing. Is that correct?

For use with the Pedersen Rifle and "early" Garand tests. A 7mm type.
Good info on the cartridge at the Google site.
Hope you got a good deal on an nice item for a Garand collector.
I knew a fellow in northern Wisconsin who had several Pedersen rifle from the Winchester Collection when it was sold off around 40 years ago.

Wikipedia is good but one that really goes in depth is Hatcher's Book of the Garand. The 276 was almost adopted. But Gen MacArthur office scotched it. It matters little at this point in time but Winchester's entry in the Marine rifle test did pretty well for a shop built one of a kind and if the it's bolt hadn't failed we may have had two m1's with the same gas system.

Macarthur stopped the 276 I heard because we had billions of .30 left over from WW1.
