Arizona natives and transplants

Sun City, Arizona
(located just west of the Phoenix Ben Avery Range and the Western CMP Games and Creedmoor Cup Matches)

I am one of a few LEGAL immigrants here, from Upstate New York & Florida. I quickly adapted to the evershine sun, the cloudless blue sky, the beautiful and sometimes snow capped mountains and the almost total absence of insects. I don't miss the snow and ice of NY but have only a 2 hour drive to find it if I want it. I certainly don't miss the humidity and blood sucking insects of Florida. Best of all, a friendlier atmosphere for gun owners and gun toters, with or without a CCW, is hard to find anywhere..

Nice to have you on the forum.
I’ve been to NY and Southern Ontario to fish in the spring; those mosquitoes are big enough to breed a goose.
Bill Poole runs a nice website for competition shooting in Arizona http://arizona-rifleshooting.com/, tell him us folks in PA are jealous of the weather you guys have. I hear it does get mighty hot there in the summer. In a few years I’ll be retired and have to come out there for the Western Games.

You are certainly right about it getting hot here in the summer, but it's only for a few weeks and it's a DRY heat. :D
I spent many pleasant weekends in Lancaster with my family when they were growing up. The beauty of the Amish farms and the people, horses & carriages to be seen there is beyond description. Takes one back in time at leas1 100 years.

From Michigan here, other side of town though. Queen Creek.

I am on the Westside of the Phoenix Metro area. I am a 3rd generation native. Bet there is no-one who can top that. :)

My wife is actually Native, as in Native American...that probably wins.

NewGuy556 - I'm also a 3rd generation Arizona native - grandmother was born here in 1896, my father in 1921 and myself in 1956. My son has us beat as he was born here in 1989 and is fourth generation native Arizonan. However, roadkingtrax's wife definately wins the prize.

3rd here....my grandfather build his house just south and east of 35th & Van Buren...it's still there today. Owners thought I was stalking them when I drove bye staring at the house, so I had to stop to explain!

If only Grandpa would have bought that north of Lincoln land that was $1/acre!!!! He was broke.....like everybody else......and 6 kids!

4th Generation on my Dad's side. I was born where the wind never stops blowing and you can have a dust storm in the middle of a blizzard. I live in Glendale now:)
