Great Collection!!! I would guess the bayonets with the button release, black grips are for the shot gun?

All for the trench gun. Black grips were Vietnam era. Rest were made for 1917 model bolt action, but work on trench guns also.

Nice collection! I think I see three Vietnam era bayos. If Gen Cut (General Cutlery), do any have a rough fuller? I have one such item and I've seen another on-line. One would think that the roughness is due to corrosion, but the rest of the blade is near pristine, unsharpened with factory finishing marks. Perhaps my fuller is as-forged and not finished for some reason? Any ideas? TIA!

The two grooves cut into the wooden handles started with the British Pattern 14 Enfield rifle. They were to distinguish that bayonet from the one they used on the SMLE.

The grooves were continued when the US 1917 Enfield was produced because they were the same bayonet as for the P 14, and they could also be differentiated from the US model 1905 bayonet.
