Field grade earlier this year. does the black look like grain? Itís not grease or burnt, I cleaned with PP & applied PTO. If you look from the front to rear, the black goes away, that why I think it might be grain.

Any ideas on value? It’s banged up but had a good cartouche & strong P stamp. JLG stocks are somewhat rare.

Without seeing more of the stock I'd guess somewhere in the 200-250 range. JLG's are certainly not common but keep in mind that the serial number range that they are correct on is comparatively limited. S/N's 4,200,001-4,350,000 give or take.

Looks like grain or just wood color to me. I have some that also have the blackish bands running through them.
