USGI Web Sling marked a little differently

Tom Taylor recently sent me this image of a sling he found in the sling box at the South Store. This was the first he had seen and so it naturally peaked his interest.
I have been seeing these myself in the box of slings and they all seem to be dated in 1964 like the example Tom found.
It occurs to me that there are many of you guys that may not have seen a sling marked like this one so we thought we share the picture so you can keep your eyes open if you ever get the chance to dig thru the sling box yourselves.

I have or had some stamped on metal, don't remember the date. Will look around and see if what I have. I completely forgot about them until you posted yours pics

Dates?

I think I will dig out my stash of these and see how many different dates I have.
Might be interesting.

Well, it seems that out of 4 years diving into the sling box at the store I have only managed to accumulate 6 slings marked like the one shown and every one of them are dated 1/64.

Maybe it was just a one year (or month) test period? I have slings that are letter stamped MRT 1964 also with the black ink.

I never noticed that. I buy 2 every time I stop at the store (just because); most still have the zip tie.
One of the 2 I got yesterday is indeed MRT 1/64

Went through my slings but none like what is pictured, I must have got rid of them. In the process I did find a bunch of stuff I forgot I had though

Both carbine and M1 web slings had MRT markings applied that way. I imagine it must have been particular to one place doing the treatments since I've seen plenty of other slings with 60s MRT dates that are ink stamped in the usual fashion.
