-13 Winchester

I picked this one up from a friend which had become excess to his collection....lucky for me! I believe this rifle is all original and never tinkered with. It was originally purchased by a CMP volunteer some 20 years ago. This is an early one, SN 1608678 ME is .8.

Thanks....did you notice the OC canons are on their side? What a cool mistake!

It is a nice one. One thing for sure is the oprod is not correct. It should not be the slant sided one rather the straight up and down one. Can't see the sight markings, stock markings or anything inside to say that it is original as well.

Here is a picture of the stock markings it should have.

The arrows on the rear sight should only be straight lines making up the arrowhead and not a filled in. Here are some pictures.

Anyway, real nice piece and a few things here to look at.

The slant cut WRA op rod is perfectly acceptable for the very early Win-13s. The OPs Win-13 is an early one. Only later in the Win-13 production did the straight cut op rod become the expected version.

There are many reports of the early Win-13's having the slant side op rods as well as the flat sides,so very well could be original?Win-13's are unique,as "anything is possible"when they were manufactured.

edit***I type slowly,Mike beat me to it**** ;)

Thanks for the education! He didn't have all the pictures up when I looked at the rest of the rifle.

The Win-13 rifles have been described at times as "floor sweeper" rifles. Winchester used up all kinds of left over parts on these rifles.

I have one from very near the end of production that I picked up at the North Store a few years back. We were on vacation out east and made this one of our destinations. I had an HRA at home and after getting a Springfield and this WRA that day I was thinking this was going to be it. Oh well, so much for that thought.

I have corrected the rifle since the picture.

You bet, Mike! This one has no circle P.... another accepted anomaly. Winchester was cutting corners.
