Who Would Build M1 Carbines Today If....

Who would build M1 Carbines today if we needed them for another world war ???

The carbine is really an antiquated firearm. Really would you want be armed with a "curio" or a "relic" in the next World War?

Well, would you?

:D

I shuttter to think we may have to buy them from the Chinese.

Thanks to NAFTA, they would probably be built in Mexico City.

I seriously doubt that we as a nation could do the same thing today.

This country went on a full war manufacturing schedule in less than a year. Today, the US companies don't communicate, have no interest in long term planning or cooperation with other companies. Look at the fiasco with Boeing and their new world plane. One of the finest old time companies, renowned for quality, partners with McDonald Douglas and falls flat on its face. This is the company that built 10 thousand B17s and B29s. When companies and businesses choose to hide behind firewalls and offshore customer contact, do you really think they are motivated by anything but greed?

Look at todays generation of "U.S. manufacturing companies". Wonder what Facebook and Google will "tool-up" for?

Probably the same firms that are currently geared up to produce halberds and caltrops......

Could you imagine the look on some young Patriots' face at Valley Forge if someone handed him one with a 30 round magazine saying, "She's handy, fast, and accurate." "But the down side......, She won't shoot through frozen winter clothing......"

I sure as hell don't want to start that frozen winter clothing deal again but one thing I have always wondered, how the crap did the Chinese even MOVE if their clothing was frozen to the point a round wouldn't go through them? UUmmmm?
