Hello from Maine

Just sent in my paperwork for a Springfield in Service grade. Been wanting one for years and just never got my act together until now. I also have an unrestored 45 MB with the weapons carrier so guess what I'm using to transport the M1 to my shooting area. :D

Raven;

Welcome to the Forums, good to have you join us. I know I'd love to see some pics of your untouched MB, especially after you mount that Springfield on it.

Congrats on the SG Springfield. Wishing you the best on the dice roll.

I enclosed a note to give me a good one, my very first that I saved all summer for and I'm hoping to get into competitive shooting. Here is the jeep

Wow, that's a great looking Jeep Raven. I'm also of 1945 vintage but, I sure as heck don't look that good, lol :D.

Thanks for posting the pic for us.

Yes, know the area well, used to live in Orrington. My first m1 though, looking forward to getting it, never even held one before.

I love the history of WW2, I regret not talking to my grandfather more about his time in the pacific. The idea of getting a gun that he would have used, and owning a jeep he may have driven is just wonderful. Many folks want me to paint and restore the jeep. I also read about folks who want nice clean stocks, and perfect finishes. I'll take the old beat up rifle any day, and I'll keep my scratched/faded jeep the way it was. My grandfather died with shrapnel scars on hs face and hands and never fixed em, why should I do any different with my equipment....all battle scars.

My only request on the rifle is that it shoot straight and be safe.

I do wish they get some carbines in soon. My 72yr old dad has wanted one for years but never could get one. I hope he'll enjoy shooting the Garand.
