Alcan AL-7 reloading data

Anyone have reloading data for Alcan AL-7? I have 10 pounds of the stuff and was wondering if there was any loads for 9mm, 357 mag, 38 special, 45 auto? I looked online and had a hard time finding anything. Thank You

Alcan has been gone since the '90's. So any powder you have will be elderly. It may or may not still work. Depends on how it has been stored.
However, my 1978 vintage Lyman Pistol and Revolver manual has 158 grain cast .38 loads and one 9mm 121 grain cast load. No .357 or .45 loads. No jacketed bullet data either. You want it?
Other old manuals will have data too.

The Speer #9 manual has some loads as well. Send me a PM if you would like me to scan the pages and email them to you.
I have a buddy who had some AL5 from back when and he's been loading it for his .38 Special. It seems to be okay since he kept it stored in a cool dry place and there was no rust on the inside of the can.

I bought quite a bit of it a couple of years ago, and love it. Here's what I use.

9mm- 115 FMJ, 7.0gr AL7, vel=1064

40S&W- 165 JHP, 8.0 AL7. vel=1018

Thank You

Thank you all for the information. Any more info is helpful but at least now I do not have to throw that powder out.

This is from an Alcan data sheet when AL-7 costs $15.55 for 3 pounds. 38 Special 125 Cast 8.2 gr, 158 Jacketed 6.8 gr. 357 mag 125 cast 10.5 gr. 158 gr Jacketed 9.5 gr. 44 Mag 225 gr Jacketed 16.5 gr. 240 gr Jacketed 16.0 gr, 250 gr cast 15.5 gr. If I recall AL-7 was about the burning rate of Unique or a little slower. That is tthe only loads I have on my Alcan sheet but I'm sure there are a lot of other applications.

I used it on .357 reloading some years back and was very pleased with it until it bacame unavailable. Books boxed for now (small flood in house), but if you need I could send copies of data probably later. herleman@pacbell.net
