SOLVED! - Requesting help with Mac Issue

SOLUTION - Do not attempt to run NM Collector Software from the downloads folder on a Mac. Updated "installation" instructions. Thanks to all who helped me with this!

I recently had to completely re-architect NM Collector Software to conform to the latest enforcement of Mac architectural standards. Of course, the re-architected software works great with my Mac but, apparently, not with all Macs.

The problem some people are experiencing is:

I open the app and follow your instructions for activating, which I found at “http://www.nmcollectorsoftware.com/s...ems.htm”, and it does display a message stating the activation was successful, but it continues to say “Evaluation license activation was successful. Click OK to continue”, whenever I open the app, and it still shows “This copy licensed to [evaluation] at the top of the screen.

I wonder if I can you Mac users to help me with this? Can you try out the 4.0.1 version (https://www.nmcollectorsoftware.com/download/) on your Mac and post back to this thread if it works or not? I would also like to know the following with your report:

Which Download: (from downloads page - USB (all Operating Systems), Windows Only, Mac Only, or Linux Only)

About this Mac: (from System Report - please obfuscate any info you do not want to share)

About Java: (see https://java.com/en/download/help/mac_controlpanel.xml)

Anything else you can think of ...

Glitchy

Macbook Pro
OS X
ver: 10.9.5

Appears to work but a little glitchy. When I click on things the whole screen flashes sometimes. I'm able to enter data ok.

Thanks

Are you running it directly from your hard drive or a USB? Can you let me know if the glitchiness goes away over time (with usage)?

Thanks.

Directly from HD. Probably not something I will use, although it looks like a really nice program. When it loads, I get a screen that says I only have 90 days.

Thank you

Still looking for one that it does not work on. I wonder if it works on some Macs until an activation code is entered and then stops working. Not asking anyone to purchase just wondering out loud.

Free activation for Mac testers?

@TLB and @mycanoe44

Would you be willing to test the activation and see if the program continues to run after activating? If so, please PM me your email address to send the activation to.

Thanks,

Clay

Activation sent

@TLB, please let me know if it continues to work after activation.

Thanks.

TLB 01-22-2019 07:41 PM

I have activated. Reference this:

The problem some people are experiencing is:

I open the app and follow your instructions for activating, which I found at “http://www.nmcollectorsoftware.com/s...ems.htm”, and it does display a message stating the activation was successful, but it continues to say “Evaluation license activation was successful. Click OK to continue”, whenever I open the app, and it still shows “This copy licensed to [evaluation] at the top of the screen.

I saw the same behavior on initial activation as above, but when I quit and relaunched the application it showed the copy was licensed to my email address.

Since I've activated I added 3 new records. All 3 used the Identification tab, one also using the Description tab. All 3 records seem to have saved correctly. I'll keep playing around and see if I can break it.

Thank you

I should have stated they closed and restarted the program several times each to no avail ...

Are there any others out there who are willing to download and test the software? I am looking for someone who is encountering the problem so we can try to figure out why it is happening.

I am also open to any ideas or suggestions as to what to check. This is a java program that seems to work on most Macs but occasionally refuses to save changes on some Macs.

Thanks!!!!
