M2 Ball Headstamp 'FMB 80'

Saw some of this ammo on 250 rd. cloth belt - good looking stuff, but can't find any info on origin or whether it is non-corrosive or otherwise. Anyone know more about it?

Thanks;

Double check your Headstamp... it might be this: FNB 30 80 - Fabrique Nationale / Fabrique Nationale Herstal, Herstal, Belgium
It is NONcorrosive/Berdan primed

Thanks for the response. I can't check the ammo just now, because I don't have it - one of my shooters had it at the match on Friday, and it struck me as odd because it was cloth belted M2 (and so-marked on the can), with a headstamp I had not seen and seemed to be of rather late date for cloth belting. I don't recall the headstamp including the '30'; though it might have. And I'm pretty sure the headstamp was 'FMB', not FNB'.

FedOrd in California imported a lot of that ammo on white cloth Browning belts including a bunch of AP in the late 1980s or thereabouts.

All of it FN ( FNB )

Roger, and thanks...

if that is, indeed, the ammo I saw, is it (presumably) non-corrosive?

Yes, NONcorrosive primers for FN since 1958

FMB was a headstamp used, in different forms, by several Spanish and Portuguese speaking nations. Usually, the "FM" is for the local version of millitary manufacutre ("fabricas militares", for example) and the location of the loading arsenal.

However, it has to be NCNM (non-corrosive/non mercuric), as very few facilities loaded corrosive rounds in western calibers after the sixties.
