Is this a Warner & Swazey Musket sight rifle?
Today while looking closely at a 1903 Springfield that I bought in August at CMP, I noticed that there were 3 plugged holes in the receiver. After looking at Brophy's book on pages 499 and 500, it appears that this was a sniper rifle with a Warner and Swazey sight at one time.
Is this correct?
Does this increase the value of the rifle? If so, how much?
Thanks in advance.

Pictures aren’t working for me, but the description sounds like one. They were reconverted to service rifles.

03 sniper
If they converted them back to standard rifles like the Russians did the 91/30s, they welded the screws in place, then refinished the receiver. I believe the M1Cs screws were not welded in tho, is that correct? Just ground off flush with the side of the receiver. Anyway, I have drilled and tapped the side of quite a few Russian deactivated snipers and haven't had any real problems. Some of the welds are so hard that they needed a tiny spot annealing to get the bit to start but other than that..... I think it's pretty cool that you have one and I personally would think about reactivating it. However, that depends on whether you could find a proper scope setup. That might be a bit tough. I have seen WS scopes for sale, but you need the proper base, etc. Neat. Thanks for sharing a nice variation of the 1903.
