M 1923 web sling value?

I would like to know the value of a M 1923 web sling in near mint condition? , it is marked, S M Co 1942

If original around $125-150. There is a recent reproduction but cannot remember how it is marked. I seem to remember there was an additional marking on the new sling.

For some perspective...current reproduction as mentioned above.

I have seen mint condition originals bring over $200.00. Much harder to find mint Khaki (earlier) M1923s should bring a premium. Most of the OD green M1923s you find are MRT (Mildew Resistant) treated in the 1950's - so it remained in the supply system for a while.

I find the M1923 to be superior to the M1907 leather sling for real world usage, and the web M1 is just a carry strap, unless you put it on backwards - which is just wrong. Just get the correct instructions and learn how it works - it's really just an M1907 in web with buckles instead of hooks.

If you want one to use, the Starlite M1923 re-issue is extremely well done, (it is actually produced in a WWII American Web gear factory, no less!) and is, if anything, nicer than the originals. And the price is right - get one NOW - or regret it later.....

Starlite did not want to make "forgeries", so in addition to the original markings, they put their own address mark on the new M1923s. CC
