[QUOTE=Rolling Thunder;214099]Where did that rumor originate?

Not a rumor. I got the information from Scott Duff's Post War Garand book. He interviewed a former H & R employee who said that there were some rifles that didn't meet standards. Instead of pulling the serial numbers and going on, H & R destroyed the defective receivers and reused the serial numbers on new receivers.

Thank you for the information regarding the heat lot numbers. It cleared alot of things up.

Really interesting...Just realized that one of my HRA serials is on the original chart posted......I would imagine the info came from the CMP as my rifle is a documented HRA collector grade with original paper work.....It is in the 5.5 mil ser range.....And of course I had to check the accuracy of the chart....It all checks out as listed...

                    Lean on us! CMP Customer

                    Hi Rolling Thunder,

Great info on your HRA Markings chart.

I have an HRA Correct grade Garand from the CMP, which is absolutely beautiful. It is a 4.76 and falls between 4767906 and 4768532 on your chart.

My rifle has three exceptions to the data for the serial number range above.

*My hammer is an HRA C55 rather than an HRA 55.

*The Door plunger on the butt plate appears to be ‘round’ as I understand ‘round’ to be described.

*You don’t show Drawing number or Heatlot for my serial number range, but my receiver shows Heatlot B above the Drawing number, which is 6528291.

The questions are these: Do these differences from your data have an effect on the correctness of my weapon? Or is it OK given that weapons with these parts appear in nearby serial number ranges, possibly manufactured only a week or two apart?

Your opinion? And of others too?

                    Thanks

                        Sirs,
Any information on 4.66 range? I have 4,665,03x and was told by Mr. Jim Mac it was original.

I would assume that yours just fell between sequences. I have an 5.521 and it is between the sequences as well.

Should I just assume it was originally very similar to say the closest number i can find from the list to my rifle's number?
