It's covered in the linked .pdf document - see original post. I also added another page to this .pdf file that shows yet another set of instructions.

This is not rocket science and once you do it you probably won't need instructions. Also the 1/2" socket is subjective, but most people have one laying around and it's radius does the job nicely, so it's a popular method. A 9/16" socket, steel round stock of a similar diameter or other will also get the job done.

Punches of course work, but personally I try to have more eye-appealing results with my work. Oh well, more than one way to skin a cat as they say.
