The 7 th annual Pa. State Garand, Springfield & Vintage Rifle match opened under bright sunny skies and warm temperatures. Shortly after 8:00 am Colors were sounded and Head Line Official, Ed Lambert called the first Garand relay to the line. After the last enbloc had hit the ground Tom Hemphill of Clarksburg, Pa. stood as the early leader firing a personal best 290-8. Not to be outdone by Hemphill, Greg Adams of Butler, Pa. used a personal best 286-8 to take the Springfield match. Jim Madar of Pittsburgh, Pa. captured the Vintage bolt rifle match with a score of 280-6.
The 3 gun aggregate came down to Tom Hemphill’s 842-12 for the gold medal, Josh Stemeick’s consistency won him the silver with an 834-15, and Greg Adams’ 818-15 outlasted Jim Madars 817-10 for the bronze.
30 CMP place medals were handed out in the 3 rifle categories with the M1 match being the highest medal count with 12.
The Read Range Hex System E targets worked well all day, even to the point of affording the shooters a 15 minute break between the Springfield and Vintage matches
Special thanks to Ed Lambert for his Line Official work. Ed keeps the match moving and we were able to finish at approximately 1:30 pm Also thanks to Tammy Halfhill for taking the pictures and posting them to the Reade FB page
