This is probably the best reference for ammunition and the Garand available. I highly recommend you bookkeep this website and look up whatever ammo you intend to use:

I use Quickload myself in working up ammunition for my Garands. I did a standard M2 Ball load and work my handloads to go below the port pressure calculated for M2. With a slower moving bullet such as a 180gr load I drop the pressure more.
Yep..which is why Remington 150grn corelokts are prfectly safe. GG data confirms this. Their data isn't perfect but it does give you some idea.
