Our club lost its outdoor range couple of years ago; insurance liability issues with the land owner. The club does have access to an indoor pistol range but limited to .22 caliber firearms. Hard to believe that with all the wide open spaces in eastern Oregon, that there isn't a rifle range nearby!

Douglas Ridge Rifle Club near Estacada has an active service-rifle contingent and regular matches. VERY nice facility and friendly people. I'm looking forward to shooting there again... safe, fun and at the same time, serious about the sport. Next match is Dec. 7th, I'm going to try to make it over for that.

Chehalem Valley Sportsman's Club in Dundee is my "home" range. Emphasis and bulk of club members are into pistols, but we do have a 100 yd rifle range with a 200 yd "option". Nice, small, quiet place to shoot. As I said, it's "home" for me.

I've been to Tri-County in Sherwood several times; close to home but I'm not inclined to try and become a member... too big, crowded, etc. Not sure what sort of CMP/service rifle program they have.

Albany Rifle & Pistol Club in Albany apparently has an active high power match schedule. I've never been... but want to go. They're not THAT far from home for me.

Live in Medford/Central Point area. Klamath Falls is about 80 miles. Have three club here:
        http://www.mrpc.info/p/mrpc.html (Indoor)
        http://www.medfordgunclub.com (Skeet and Trap)
        http://www.rvssa.org/ (Outdoor)
        and 30 miles away is:
        http://www.jcsa-gunrange.com (All three)

I going with the CMP HXD. Read a lot today and it seems everyone is happy with it and for using it for reloading. Since I have to buy 30-06 dies, I am trying to figure out if I should go with RCBS X-dies>

I had the opportunity to shoot at JCSA a few times, and liked it... thought it was a very nice place.

Was a member of the Jefferson State Shooting ******'n for 4 years when I lived in Klamath. Used the Sportsman's Park range (out past Keno) extensively... my previous "home" range. Wasn't into M1's then, but the 200yd and 600yd ranges really were very nice.

So were the wood stoves in the pistol bays, for winter shooting!

Jeff, I live in the hills behind M-F, if you have a chance check out there website, we have covered bench rests, 5 stand clays, cowboy action and pistol ranges. Rifle goes from 25 yrds out to 600 yrds. I have had my HRA 54 model M1 for 3 yrs and my M1 carbine for about 2 and a half. Both are fun to shoot and accurate, more so than I am.

I'm in Portland and I belong to Douglas Ridge Rifle Club in Eagle Creek as well. They have a regular CMP Service Rifle and High Power program. They even have club rifles available for those who wish to try it out. I finally got motivated to jump into a Service Rifle match, after receiving my first Service Grade M1 last week. Good bunch of guys - I was a bit apprehensive trying to use a new-to-me rifle, given that I hadn't zeroed or even fired it yet and my sling and ammo aren't here yet but they got me set up and I had a good time.

Estacada Rod and Gun Club also does CMP matches (short range only).

                          Nice country

I bet you live with the Walla Walla unit right behind you,
Some Monster Rocky Mont. Bulls reside there, But with only 25 tags a year I kind of look at that as a in in 12 year elk tags. But I digress
I want to get back into shooting some pistol shooting as well My 45 have been sitting to long I have been spoiled shooting my colt ace's, No reloading that way
I just finished a very nice restoration on a HRA I am on the Hunt for a HRA with a LMR barrel. I hear you about our rifle's shooting beter than us mainly due to not getting to range enough.
Again welcome to the CMP forum and thanks for the Oregon insite..
                          Jeff

Jeff, right in the middle of the unit, unfortunately most of the unit is private property and you also have to have permission to hunt. Yesterday was 0 degrees and met three hunters that were out. I have a 1911 that I tank to our range along with the M1's. Cant wait for warmer weather to get out and shoot again.
