Default M14/M1A Barrel ID

Hi guys, I recently bought a lot of firearm parts and need help ID'ing an M-14/M1A barrel. As far as I can tell, there are no markings on it at all. I was told it might be Chinese GI?

One of the easiest ways to determine a Chinese barrel is to look for a shallow hole drilled in the receiver threads, (about 1/8".) The Chinese (Norinco, PolyTech) commercial rifles all have them, as they used a set screw to lock the barrels in place. There are NO markings other than that on the Chinese barrels that I have ever seen. Also, just so you know, they are chrome-lined, and are actually very nice and quite accurate barrels.

There are some barrels out there with no markings on it that are dangerous. If I wasn't sure it was 100% chicom I would not use it myself

Off to find a like about unmarked barrels. I know that Sarco had unmarked ones it they kits that had way back when...

Citadel did make GI profile M14 barrels, and still does from time to time. They were medium gray and totally unmarked, with no "non-GI" holes or other features.

This one has that little set screw hole. The ME is about 2.5 using a 30-06 gauge. What is the approximate value?

If it shows 2.5 on a .30 muzzle instrument, it probably doesn't have much value.

Probably pretty heavily used, or used a rather liberal interpretation of bore specs.

Then again, if it's chrome lined, which most of the Chinese were, it might chop to a nice brush rifle tube.

But I doubt if I'd ask over $100.
