Default South store statue

Has anyone taken the time to record the make, serial numbers and other interesting characteristics of the Garands that make up the south store statue?

There might be some interesting info to be found there such as O-6x rebuilds, duplicate serial numbers, consecutive serial numbers or H&Rs between 4,673,473 and 4,673,578 that might help narrow down the serial number of ampersand style change.

If I lived near by (Im 12 hours away), Id happily volunteer to do it.

Doug,
There is a 444 IHC/IHC Postage Stamp at eye level that I added to my IHC database.
I plan to spend a bit of time taking photos of what I can see while I am there tomorrow. That way I can look at the receivers at my leisure to see if there is anything else noteworthy.

Maybe someone with a camera equipped drone can film the receivers at the top.

No doubt the CMP has a list of Serial Numbers used in the statue. For all those that have an "in", I'm sure they would provide it to them for research purposes or for a filler article in the GCA journal.

Absolutely- they keep track of all SNs coming in and going out.

If someone ends up manually collecting data, I think there are at least two more statues at the TMP.

What a waste of a large number of potential wall hangers.

I ended up with around 1/2 of the serial numbers & makes on my first effort. Should get the rest on my next trip, but we'll see. Some are up pretty high so will need to figure out how to make my camera work for me. Maybe a selfie stick

Nothing really notable yet, but we'll see what turns up.
I did find a few serial numbers that will show up in a few of the databases I manage, though.

all in good fun,
Rob

Rob,
If you have time id bet there would be many interested to see a complete list once you are done. There may be some serial numbers there that are of no interest to you or I but are of interest to others. I would be willing to enter them all onto the master list at USRifleCaliber30M1.com if no one else is interested in doing so.
