This high quality Singer sold at auction last weekend for $126,000.

Not too surprising. Previous examples have gone even higher at auction.

What's always seemed ironic to me is that of all the WWII era USGI 1911s, the Singer had the least impressive name "S. MFG CO" compared especially to Colt. The least amount made as well, thus the name has nothing to do with it.

I'm sure there are plenty of other weapon examples as well.

If Colt had only made 500 1911s, they would probably sell for a lot more than Singers!

Funny, a couple of months or so ago, a reproduction Singer sold on Gunbroker for almost $3 grand. It was sold as a reproduction "for display purposes only" but fully functional. No intent to defraud. Best "fake" I had seen in many years of looking.

Own a real one. Go figure. Incidently, I am trying to track the auction for one at RIA but am having trouble navigating their site. Anyone see any results?

Sold for $70,000. The M1910 prototype went for $180.000.
