For what its worth - I have been using the Rem 6 1/2 with 14.6 grs of W296 or H110 for years. I used to use the 7 1/2 (generally more expensive), but have been saving those for the 5.56mm. Never have had a FTF with either.

Buy the best deal , if they don't work I bet you can sell the primers at the club and maybe make a few $ . I mail order my primers by the 50k to a shipment. I sell off what I think I don't need or doesn't work for me.

I use the mil spec to prevent the possibility of a slam fire. I reload both 5.56 and the.30 carbine and no problems.

Heck, the link started way back in 2011, and I still don't use magnum primers in the carbine

You are right, this is an old thread. I just use CCI 400 Small Rifle Primers with IMR 4227, they go bang every time.

Ive had good luck with Tula and Wolf SRPs in .30 carbine. They're not hot enough for .223 IMHO, but 100 percent in .30 carbine. And cheap too. 15 bucks a thousand.

I have used both WSR and CCI400 for many years. I did have some FTF issues but found it was do to 2 issues:

1. Getting the correct trim length on my brass. This greatly reduced my FTF

2. I replaced the old hammer spring with a new spring.
This was the final solution that has basically eliminated my FTF.

Use CCI Small Rifle and on occasion Winchester Small Rifle. No issues so far. Works.
