Stopped by the North Store this am. Only 4 people in the store. Still had WWII Corrects, SA Collector, HRA Collector, 6-mil, and CMP Specials, along with the M1-C and M1-D. 03-A3 gone except for drill rifles--no more expected. Everything they have is out they said. Went to look at the 6-mils but found a special I couldn't pass up--S/N 196XXX.

Sure wasn't expecting to find a 6 digit serial number--think they had another one that was 9XXXXX

Yep, I was there with a friend who was looking for his 2nd Garand, and he went home with the other 6-digit SA CMP Special; a very nice rifle indeed.
In addition to the inventory already mentioned, there were about a dozen Daisy M853 air rifles, about half of which had the Monte Carlo stock. IMO, the CMP Specials for $830 were the best value there. I looked the 6 mils over, and they were nice rifles, but so were the Specials, for $400 less. Bags of Daisy sights, and wrapped 1911 magazines were available at the counter. We got there at 8:30, and were the first in the door. We stayed about an hour, and I think about 5 other customers came in during that time. |

I picked up 2 Daisys last week, one of each stock. The Monte Carlo ended up being a 700 series instead of 800. I wish I would have picked out more. It might need tinkering though, my first 3 shots went through and through a soda can. Every shot thereafter bounced off. One of the rear sights was missing mounting screws. An email to CMP and they mailed a whole rear sight.
