Has anyone ever shot a 10x score slow prone at a sanctioned CMP GSV match ?

My best was 100-7x, that I can remember. No one I know has done a 10x, legally.

Its a tall order with an as-issued military rifle (its hard enough with a service rifle). It would take a good shooter with a great gun to do it. I wouldn't bet that its never been done, but I've never seen it.

I've shot a couple 6x cleans with a really good Garand, and a 7x with an original NM 1903. I've also never gotten more than 8x with an A2 service rifle or a fully slicked up NM M1.

Not at a match, but I shot this with my M1 Special with a new Criterion barrel I had just installed and Creedmoor Match ammo a few weeks ago at the TMP. After the second shot I came down one click on the rear sight. This was prone slow fire with coat and sling. I knew I threw shot # 8 to the left, almost out of the 10 ring. The Creedmoor ammo is like a laser beam.

I think I may have shot a 100-8x with my No. 4 Enfield at 200, but will have to look for the photo. That was with 174 gr SMK handloads.

None of it counts, since itís not at a CMP Match. But, that would be something to work towards. But, wonít help my standing scores any!

I bet someone has done it.

I've often wondered the same thing.
Hindsight being 20/20 as it is, I've also wondered "what if" on some of my own shooting, one instance in particular.... When I was in the NCARNG, I was OIC of our battalion rifle team as a young 1Lt. We shot "M16 Combat Rifle" which was pretty much a modified high power course. The first stage though was 100 yds rapid fire standing.
Military matches, or at least these, we're 5 points per shot, 50 points/stage, and X's were V's.
In 1992, at the state AG's match, my guys, and this fresh out of college Lt, partied a bit on Friday night...Heavy Engineer unit, go figure.. (Individual match was Saturday, team match on Sunday). I stepped to the 100yd line on Saturday morning with a raging headache and a queasy stomach. The NC State record at the time was 50-7V. I shot a 50-5V. Our team tea-totaller coach and spotter, a fine E6, couldn't believe it, lol, and actually requested a recheck of the target.
I ended the day as the state champion at 100 and 300yds and finished 3rd overal in the state. We won the team match on Sunday, earning us a trip to the Winston P Wilson matches that year.
