Default 40X action type ?

Does anyone know which action type the current CMP Remington 40X rifle have ? Are they the older 722 based action or the later 700 based action ? Also, are they "U.S." marked ? Thanks.

I can tell you they are all US marked from what I have read. Don't know about the action though, probably a mix.

My USMC from a couple of years ago is a 722 action.. Have any of you guys ever seen a Standard barrel 40XB or the newer 700 action type. I know of 5,40X's at our club that are standard barrels and all are 722 type actions..I know Remington offered the 40XB in a standard barrel but I have never even seen a picture of one? Thanks Mike

BUY ONE!!! Over the years I've bought several 40-X's/40-XB's from CMP and they've come in both configurations; the 40-X with the 722 type action with the straight, round, uncheckered bolt and false floorplate and the 40-XB with the 700 type with the doglegged, oval, checkered bolt with no floorplate. My standard barrels have been both types; my two heavy barrels are both X-B type and the USMC is a 40-X. BTW both action types are stamped 40-X but the serial numbers for the "XB's" end with a "B". Both action types are very slick and lock up like the proverbial "bank vault". Experiment with various ammo types and you'll be very pleased with their accuracy. It's a hoot to shoot spinner targets at 200 yds after you figure out your elevation(about 14-15 minutes up from a 100 yd zero, if I remember correctly.
