Default m1d price

I have been thinking I need a m1d, if I buy one of those cmp now has for sale how much will it cost me to buy the rest of what I need ? I have a cheeck rest. also I have not bought anything from cmp for several years, will that cause any delays ? thanks for any answers, wayne

Is the m1d barrel any different from standard m1 barrels ?

Yes, they were specifically made to create an M1D rifle. They have a block attached the allows the scope mount to be attached. The barrel is designed so that unit armor could trade out the barrel and create a sniper rifle.

I would buy a real complete documented M1D. Its going to be worth more in the long run

It depends on what you are trying to do with the rifle and what your budget is. I recently put together a "shooter" M1D and was able to spend a lot less than I did for my collector M1D by using things like reproduction scope and cheek pad. Accessories come available from time to time here, but they usually go quickly so you have to be ready. Also complete M1D's come available from time to time on here which would save you the time trying to locate everything.

Good advice here. Find one of the lottery rifles with all the accessories and paperwork. May be slightly more expensive than if you pieced one together, but like Bill said, itll be worth it in the long run

If you just want a shooter,Let the CMP Custom shop build you one off a rifle you already have,I had one built they installed the scope mounts sights etc all I had to do was put the Cheek rest on and a reproduction scope I picked up for a couple hundred on sale and It makes a very nice shooter all reparked new stock etc and not that expensive at all.
