Default Hello from Maryland

New guy here from Md. New to CMP and new to the forums.
Have been long time shooter and fan of all mil arms.
Ex army , got out of the army here after being stationed at Aberdeen Proving grounds where worked in testing and devolpment.
Tested M-1 tank and M-2 Bradley.
Have a 43 SA M1, 1903 SA and a 1917 Eddystone. Not really any collector grades , but hopefully will shoot well enough.
From reading here learned that the 1917 is land lease that maybe went to canada?? But got all 3 at a good price . Have not made it to range with them yet, but soon.
And will post some pics soon so you guys can can tell me more about them .
Glad to be here and happy to learn what others are passing on ...
Happy 4th all
Larry

Welcome, Larry.

I lived in Harford County most of my life and worked two summers, 1965 and 1966, at Ballistics Research Laboratories (BRL) cutting grass and the Technical Library making $1.25 per hour. I enjoyed while waiting for the bus back to Bel Air going to the Ordnance Museum looking at the V1 and V2 Rockets as well as the tanks, American and German.

As a high school kid cutting grass at the ranges, we kids found unexploded ordnance and picked them up to throw them a distance to see if they would explode! How stupid of us but back then we all were bullet proof. At age 62, I still have rifled spent bullets I picked up from some of the ranges I cut grass on when I was 18. I have a fascination with everything that is WWII. APG in the 60s is a WWII buff's dream place to be, at least as a civilian kid! Thanks for the memory lane trip and thanks for your service.

Oh yes, even though my friend and I who worked at the tech library near the BRL building were civilians, a squad of soldiers were ordered to pick up boxes of material from the library. As my friend and I watched, the Sgt in commanded said to us: You two help these men load up the trucks, too! As a civilian and not a soldier, I knew what to say to that gruff Sergeant! YES SIR!
