Default Sir!, Jedimann reporting for duty from NY Sir!

Hi all, just wanted to say howdy. Not really sure what got a bug in my ear about getting into competitive shooting but it could be the fact that i miss my days as a Jarhead! Looking to do some Rimfire Sporter with my Ruger 10/22 and some Vintage with my 1940 91/30 Mosin Nagant. I also have a nice AR15 with a 1/7 barrel for the Service Rifle matches but I really want to get the greatest weapon system on earth... an M1 Garand someday after I find myself an affordable way to join a CMP affiliated club.

Semper Fi!

Thats great info and awesome news. Just checked it out. $25 is a steal to qualify for an M1 Garand purchase requirement. The only local club near me that is CMP affiliated is $126/yr with a new member fee of $149 which is tough on the wallet.

GCA seems like a good deal too because of the nice flyers they send out.

Cheers!

Jedimann,
Welcome to the forum Marine. Thank you for your service. If you are looking for .22 and Vintage matches, have a look in the competition section. There are matches for .22 and Garand/ Springfield/ Vintage in Camillus and Owego NYand a G/S/V at Elbridge in Jordan, NY. They are all coming up in Sept. and Oct. Hope to meet you there. Eddie

Thanks bro, it was my pleasure. I am actually planning on shootin in the Vintage and .22 Matches on 9/18 in Camillis. I'll prolly be the only guy there shooting a Mosin Nagant in the Vintage Match so look for me. I wont have any of the fancy gear either, lol. Not sure what I'll be wearing yet but I will figure it out by then. I will post a pic of myself later on when I get home in some of my paintball gear.

jedimann, Don,t worry about a lot of gear, a sweat shirt and a oven mitt will get you started. If you do not have a spotting scope, someone at the match may spot for you. The Vintage match is shot at 200' so you should be able to see the target markers with a pair of binoculars. Do you have stripper clips for your Mosin Nagant , you will need them for the rapid fire course. I will not be at Camillus but have shot there before and it's a great match. Lots of good guys to help out. You should look into the Tioga county match in Owego, I'll be at that one and Elbridge. Good luck. Eddie

Yeah I have a spotting scope and binos. I have plenty of stripper clips too so that shouldn't be an issue. I can reload her in about 2-3 seconds so it won't hurt me too bad. Only prob with Owego is it's about 3hrs and change from me and Camillus is 2.25 hrs away. I'm sure I will hit up Owego at least once though.

Welcome from another WNY'er. There are once a month high power matches in East Aurora and Attica from May to September as well as some vintage and U.S. service rifle mixed in. Attica has a nice informal action pistol every Monday night during that time as well if you are in to it. Hope to see you around some time.

I hear you talkin about the mileage. It's 3 hours for me to Owego and 4 to Camillus and Elbridge. There is only one match within a half hour of my house all season, so if I want to shoot I have to travel. Eddie

Is there somewhere they are listed? I didnt see them on the CMP site. I live in Albion so neither of those drives are bad, 1.25h tops.
