Default Quick report 4/21

Was at the NS at opening time, three racks of SA SGs mostly birch lots of 1mw.Brought home a super nice 5798447 with CMP birch. Mostly birch available few with USGI wood. It appears they are trying to tone down the orange look with a coat of brown over the orange. Looks a bit better to me and I didnt hear the usual complaints about stock color. Only one HRA SG, five or six M1917s, kinda ratty looking. A couple racks of FG SAs and FG HRA. All the winchesters looked ratty. About 20 of the .308s Thats all I had time to look at today.

I hope they're not running out of HRAs, I was hoping to pick up a couple HRA and WRA on my next trip, looks like I may be out of luck!

$995 for the .308 Specials. They look exactly like the normal SA Specials with grey parkerizing of all the parts. Some WWII receivers, some post war. Saw one with lead dipped heal, 6 digit receiver. Saw one with 4.3m receiver.

Both SA SG Specials and HRA SG Specials along the back wall. I quickly looked at the service grades and not as nice as earlier this year. Glad I bought mine earlier this year.

1903 receivers in a box at the counter. Many of the .22 sights and hand stops available but no 52D hand stops.

Saw one SA FG with a weak SA/? Cartouche on the stock. Not sure if was an EMF or something else. Looks like it got sanded and a square P proof at the grip.

I was only there 15 minutes so that is all I got to report.

I was there today this morning and gotta say the place looked like a pumpkin patch with all of the orange stocks. I did get a BEAUTIFUL 1917 that was supposedly a rack grade but I can't see why it wasn't a service grade. The barrel is bright and shiny, MW of about 1.25 and headspace good. I picked up 2 Rack grade M1c's. One with a MW of 1.5 and a 1952 barrel and the other with a toast barrel but a nice stock and numbered matching base. I did get a 6 digit SA service grade and a 5.79 Springfield service grade and also the most PERFECT D service grad I have seen. Today I spent a ton of money but it was money well spent.

Only had 15 minutes today as I was passing by. I looked at the SA FGs and did not see anything that caught my eye. Did not look at the HRA FGs. I did not see the cost of the 1903 receivers. They look small all by themselves, compared to the Garand receivers. Did not see any Garand slings on the counter. Maybe they are gone?

The 1903 receivers were 75.00 I didn't look through the whole box but looked like all low number, some pretty nice ones left. Probably fifteen or so in the box. The HRA FG racks look like the same ones that have been there for a while, didnt have time to look through them but most of the muzzles looked pretty worn, didnt guage any myself. Also alot of the Greek looking finishes on them.
