Default 2 groove for long range shooting out past 600yards?

I'm sorry if this has been beat to death, but which barrel would be best? Or does it really matter, let's say barrels are of equal good condition ?(2 groove vs 4 groove) the reason I ask is that I'm thinking of buying a 1903 or an 03a4.
What does everyone think?

I built up an 03 with a 2 grooved barrel, Lyman rear and front sights. At 600 yards works great.

the 03A3 rear sight has its limits, don't forget. I built mine with a Criterion barrel. Works nice, but I'm fairly limited to 600 yes, not that I go there with the 03a3 - that range is for my Garand or Swede. The old guys ( when I was young ) said they ( two or four groove) were equal out to a couple hundred yards. Further out the four groove shone brighter. Urban Springfield myth or not? I dunno.

Ok got it, thanks for your thoughts and replies. I'm leaning more toward the 03a3 but I don't want something that doesn't do well at 600yards. I found a nice low # m1903 but I don't want the risk.

I like the 03a3 sights better than the 03 -- yeh, sacrilege I know. Better windage ( my opinion) and the click factor does it in my eye. Yep, they work good at 600 yds. Given a choice between two and four grove, I'm not sure. Doesn't look like anyone who's tried them both out have chimed in yet. Give us a report when you get some (experience) opinions. We like opinions here.

Anyone who says a 4g outshoots a 2g is welcome to meet me at the range. I've seen excellent results on both sides of the argument, so while everyone was turning their nose up at the 2g's I was buying them.

Ya know, some guys get a little confused and forget that the 03 was primarily built to be a battle and not target rifle. As such, they, as well as the 1917 with all it's different barrels and the M1 Garand and carbine were all held to the same standards of accuracy. And the government would not have given the okay to the 2-groove 03A3 barrel if it didn't meet that standard - which I believe was 3MOA. Some 03s were made for target purposes but most were made for combat and they weren't sprinkled with magic bullseye making pixie dust.

Doesn't matter. Any difference at all will never be noticed by the majority of shooters. What are you shooting at at 600 yards?

Currently m1d, I've grown to really appreciate the old 3006 cartridge so now I'm thinking of purchasing an 03a3 to try. If I like it then I may look for an 03a4 to use for vintage sniper matches also. I have used a pu sniper, and k98 sniper and
I really like my m1d garand oddly it feels good to me and I shoot it well, so I'm thinking why not try a Springfield.
