Default 1911 A1 ammo

The 1911 A1 that are up for sale do they use current over the counter ammo? I ask this because I know my Garand uses lower pressure ammo. I'm hoping to get one and the last thing I want to do is use the wrong ammo which could cause damage to this wonderful piece of history.

Most commercial .45 ACP ammunition is loaded to correct specifications for the pistol unless you are going to some of the more exotic loadings which may approach +P levels.

You should not have any problems finding the correct ammunition for your pistol.

These pistols were designed for the 230 grn RN FMJ ball cartridge. Using some other bullet weight a/o shape may cause feeding problems. Just get some .45 ACP ammo that meets U S GI specs and you shouldn't have any problems. There's lots of that commercial ammo out there.

Default 1911 ammo

Regular 1911 ball ammo should be fine. Do not shoot the hot carry ammo and
plus P loads. Regular factory ball ammo should be ok. If you get a 1911. Ist thing you should do is invest in new recoil spring. Who knows the shape of springs in these 1911s. So many people over look the springs

Regular 1911 factory ammo will be fine. Stay away from Plus P ammo and
The Hot defensive ammo. May batter frame. Not CMP the CMP but that is my thought,
