Default CMP Creedmore .308 ammo indoor range safe?

Hello:

I ordered some .308 ammo with Lapua bullets (155 & 167 gr.) to feed my new (to me) .308 M1 Garand Special. The indoor range that is convenient and close to me restricts ammo with any steel in the projectile. Does anyone know if the Lapua rounds are attracted by a magnet?

TYIA

Very much doubt that Lapua used steel in any of its projectiles. This is commonly only found in low priced military surplus ammunition. A check of the Lapua website will likely give you a definitive answer. Sincerely. bruce.

Lapua match ammo at an indoor range...... unless you are related to Bill Gates, you need to start handloading. Good Shooting. .....

At this point it is pretty much all I can find. When I can find .308, it isn't much cheaper if at all. I live in Michigan. When the weather turns I will forego the indoor range and shoot outdoors what I can't shoot indoors.

Well Jim: I don't know where you live in Michigan, but there is a GSVM match on Saturday @ SMGC Mattawan. If you go, I will bring enough .308 for you. Good Shooting. ..

That is very kind of you! Thank you for the generous offer. I live in the Detroit area, so it would be a bit of a haul. I haven't shot a Garand match in years, the last being about 15 years ago at Perry. Unfortunately the eyes haven't aged very well. I will have to shoot one again soon though, but can't make this one.

Unfortunately my HRA CMP Special in .308 isn't technically legal, not being a 30.06 and having a national match rear sight installed. However, my other new to me HRA CMP Special is a 30.06 rifle, and would be legal, as would my WRA M1.

Thanks again for the very generous offer. Good people here!

The Creedmore .308 Match Grade I bought at the South Store last year has Lapua 167 gr Scenar BTHP projectiles that do not attract a magnet; I just now checked a box.
