Ok, I think I figured it out....hopefully you can see the pics.

RGN:8586
Make received: Colt Slide, Ithaca Frame
Model received: 1911
Serial Number received: 252609
Grade received: Field
1918 Colt receiver and Ithaca slide. One set of rebuild marks: Ogden. Barrel has "COLT 45 AUTO" and a "P" stamped on it. Has a "JM" symbol stamped in a circle on left side. Many thanks to TheBearPack for the following on it: "Frame originally shipped to Springfield on March 12, 1918. Assume it picked up the Ithaca slide and WWII Colt barrel at Ogden late in the war".

Any/all other info GREATLY appreciated!!!!

Took it out for a ride yesterday after having it inspected by an armorer.
Boy, was this puppy ACCURATE! It simply amazes me that something built so long ago still functions as well now as it did then. That, and the history behind this, just floors me.

Thank you CMP.....thank you VERY much!

My Field grade got here yesterday. Colt Frame with Colt slide. Wish the slide and frame finish was closer but overall OK with my purchase. Was told it was delivered 1/20/18.

Most of my M1911s. All Colt except for the Remington-UMC in the lower right corner. Upper right corner is a rebuild from Augusta Arsenal.

(bottom) Remington Rand

The Colt M1911A1 shown above, one of several thousand M1911A1s that Colt shipped to the Transportation Officer, Springfield Armory in March 1943 for distribution to the Army:

I am coming to this pretty late, but it took me this long to get some decent pictures. I have my wife to thank for letting me use her iPad.

RNG is 8005. I really thought I was out of the running, but got the call early in August and picked up the pistol from my FFL on August 5.

Gun is Service Grade, Model 1911, Colt frame and slide. I am really happy that the parked finish matches on both. Serial number shows date of manufacture to be 1918, and it apparently was shipped to the Navy.

Very happy about that also, as my Dad served aboard a destroyer escort in WWII, my brother on a destroyer and then a cruiser on the gunline off the coast of Vietnam, and I also served aboard an LST.

Thanks to the great folks at CMP!

Any comments and observations are very welcome. The more I can learn about this Piece of History, the better!
