Default Store Report 7/29

Arrived around 9. Few people in the store. Had 3 or 4 1903s, 4 field grade M1s. A low 100000 went home with me. Said there would be a few more for tomorrow. Also 6 or 7 service grades.

Did not pay too much attn to the IHCs. The few service grades that I looked at looked good. I was most interested in the FGs.

Of the 4 I looked at worst reading was a 4. One had a 1 & 3 reading, don't remember which was which. Stocks were dark, one had small cartouch. Ones for restock were suppose to be similar.(sounded like not allot of FG restock). Mine was 3 & 3+.

One of the service grades had lock bar sights with an un cartouched stock 2/2 bore readings. I put it back.
I bought a Springfield 1.4 million 1903 with 1918barrel 2/0 bore readings and beautiful stock with only a RA-P cartouche. Very happy to find this when I got there at 11:30 today .
Pictures after I get home next week.

I was second in line at the North Store this morning and while waiting for 0830, we were informed that there was one 1903-A4 in the rack and about 8-10 1903s. First man in bought the A-4. I bought a Service Grade Springfield Garand rebuild marked T E and 9-65 on right leg of receiver. Has a SA barrel marked 10-64 with readings of 1+ and 2+. Very clean rifle and not a Philippine return as no S mark on tag. Parkerizing is slightly lighter than my previous LEAD rebuild Is in one of the birch stocks with only a P proof mark. The stock is very heavy and has a back porch big enough to have a block party. I like it even though the stock is larger and heavier than any others I have owned.

Y or S on tag or lack of letter can still be a Philippine return. But for sure all are Army returns.
