Upon reading the FG description this rifle does not meet the criteria. According to the description they contain military issues parts that can be domestic or foreign in origin. Only new parts show up on CMP Specials, which my FG has a brand new elevation knob that the splines are twisted btw. Also in RG criteria the stock may be loose fitting, and this rifle wobbles probably 1/8'' front to back. Not to mention the rust, I will leave that subject alone. I have no doubt the CMP will take care of me but I hate being the winey customer.

Well luck of the Draw i Guess. Most of these look good to me.I tend to like FGs more than service grades.Aged and bruised stocks and aged metal.Really adds character to a Garand. As long as the barrel has decent TE and ME.

Well just have them send you another one.At the least the stock on that one would clearly need to be replaced.I would not call you a winey customer. It does sound like more of a rack grade to me. what is TE and ME

Well that's the kicker....the barrel is great... CMP tag puts it at 3+ for TE...MW at 1+....my CMP gauges read .75 ME and 2.75 TE. That's why I think it was graded out Field. I agree with you on the field grades... I typically like them better as well.

Picked up the WRA and 308 special yesterday.
I'm pretty pleased with both.
The WRA is mix match with the foreign stock.
My only real concern is the builder tag is missing.
So I will need to gauge the barrel and see where it's at.
I wish the stock SN matched the receiver like a couple others did but I guess you can't have everything.

Billusn1, looks like the WRA has a rebuild mark on the receiver leg
Looks like SA 11 of 62 maybe???
That would be cool

The tag for my service grade was underneath the foam in the case. Any chance it's there?

On a gamble I sent in my order Monday evening after holding it all day trying to decide. I was hoping for a WRA barrel. Well, figured it wouldn't get to Anniston until Thursday and maybe a DBU Friday at best or early next week. Well, checked e-Store Thursday evening and found a shipped WRA FG to be to be delivered Friday. To my surprise I received a 2358704 WRA with a WRA barrel. MW 2.5 and TE 2.0 with a bright and shiney bore. USGI stock set with a IHC op rod and a WRA gas cylinder. Mix master overall though. The rifle was very greasy and dirty. After a hot soak in hot soapy water and some scrubbing it looked great.

As usual; some good, some not-so-good.
Win FG, SN 13582xx
- SA43 repl. bbl, M2+ Th4+. Bad ding in muzzle crown.
- Mixmaster parts incl worn -9SA curved-side oprod, SA trigger group, 'new' 65-SA bolt
- BMB ctg lifter, gas cyl screw, & windage knob. :-(

A few upsides:
- Well worn original receiver finish, adequate heel stamping.
WRA stock (~rack grade condition, with no cartouches anywhere, except for just a trace of an original 'box'). Confirmed Win by numbers stamping under front ferrule.
- WRA gas cylinder
