Default August American Rifleman out with 1911 story

With 6 million NRA members there will be lots of interest in the 1911s now ?
Story said CMP expects 75,000 orders for the 8,000 pistols...

No.... there have been prior articles by the NRA other than this one, along with several other magazines and on line..........

So the interest has been building for awhile now.............

I would rather have one of the ANAD pistols than one of the Auction ones.

Hopefully there will be a secondary market (if people change their minds about keeping one).

Well now there is 74,999 as I will not be buying or even try to buy a 1911 from the CMP.
So one less person in the cement mixer.

Along those lines, I'll bet there are at least 100,000 people that won't be buying one; so that means there will be negative 25,000 orders ?

After reading the NRA article I am not sure if I will be one of the "75000". I realized that the vast majority would be rebuilt guns but I had thought they would, at least, have been from various arsenals. According to NRA article these are all Anniston Army Depot rebuilds from between 1978 - 1982 and "wear a light gray Parkerized finish". I guess I should have realized that having been in service much longer than the M1 rifle they would have been rebuilt at a latter date. Even those from the Army Museum System that will likely be auctioned, do not really sound to be in true collectable condition. The NRA article states most of those they observed from the "museum crates" were mostly 1911's of Colt manufacture, with a variety of all original and mixed A1 parts, though all appeared to have original factory finish, they all are equipped with WW2 era plastic stocks. I am sure a few gems have turned up but they will be way out of my pay grade as, if like other auctions, will bring exceptionally high selling prices. As of right now I am out of this but, who knows, by mid Sept. I may change my mind. The only + is that I don't see these guns putting a dent in the collectable 1911 market.

Now that right there is pretty funny.

You can probably add sellers of colt 1911 research books.
