Default Talladega D-day Garand match questions

Couple of Noob questions here... With the electronic scoring system, is there any need to bring a spotting scope? What is everyone going to do?

I'm thinking that I am going to try to travel light and not carry a lot of stuff. I wonder how far the FPs are from the parking lot. Anyone been that can shed some light...?

Also, at what point will our rifles be inspected? Will we need to report to an armorers station prior to the match?

A spotting scope will not be necessary at the Garand 200yd match. I will use mine at the EIC match for reading mirage at 600yds. If you are just shooting the Garand match I say leave it at home and travel light.

I have heard (for what that's worth) that they will be inspecting rifles just like the other Travel games.

thanks,
Keith

I was there Saturday. I could park in front of main clubhouse and you have to go around it on paved paths. They let you use a golf cart to bring your gear around and drop it off then bring the cart back up to the lot. No equipment or guns allowed thru the building. I have a backpack set-up to carry my rifle and I just hiked around with my gear, not hard. That lot is not huge, but it looks from the map there are some other parking areas. I have a small handcart I am going to bring depending on where I end up. Should all be on paved roads and pathways in any case. Hope that helps.

I was there Saturday too. I missed that part of his question. I was told the carts won't be available on Match day like normal days. Just too many people. They might have a pulled wagon like at Perry that carries Shooters/gear from the other parking lots like down by the maintenance building.

Like he said, don't carry your gear through the building.

I will tell you this though.....When you are facing the club house (facing downrange) building go to the RIGHT side of the building to get down to the range. Going to the LEFT side of the building is WAY further to carry your gear.

thanks,
Keith

I decided to go up yesterday to check it out. Sliding down the hill on cardboard would be easier for sure!

I was VERY impressed with the place.
