Default 1917 Front Sight Assembly Came Loose

I have a 1917, that was recently (within a year or two) re-barreled. I competed with it for my 1st time at Camp Perry this year. God I sucked! LOL, but that is another story.

The rifle had a perfect no wind windage zero on it. As verified at my home range and while shooting at Perry.

My father was visiting the other day and I was showing him my CMP competition rifles, and grabbed the 1917 from the safe from the FSP. It MOVED!

It moves fore and aft (muzzle/receiver) about 1/8 to 1/4". SLIGHT side to side play as well.

How would I go about fixing this?

Thanks in advance.

The Criterion barrel may be slightly undersize... I would remove the front sight assembly, beat up the key with a sharp chisel a bit and reassemble with some JB Weld. Make sure the cross pin is big enough or use a roll pin cut to length---and JB it as well. The JB will make everything solid, but is soft enough to alow future disassembly. Good Shooting....
