If there is a pool, I'm in with a guess of 3K. Would love to have it, but am betting it will be way too rich for me.

Hard to guess, is a little over a grand now. These very seldom come up for sale. I have 394 that I got from the old CMP auction in 2005, didn't give 3 grand but now who knows.

It was an auction. It only takes two, in this case three, people who want something badly for some reason. I see it all the time at farm auctions, mostly when I'm one of the two!

You’re going to spend a lot more than $4k on parts to make a 3 digit original. Closer to $40k

True on the big price and long search. But we don't know why anyone buys anything. Maybe the person has set a goal to restore a gas trap over the next ten years, or maybe he already has most of the parts and has been looking for the right receiver, or there may be a reason that no one else has even considered.
