Default Stock cartouch/letter

Members, If possible could you comment on some letters stamped into my carbine stock. I'm not able to post a picture but will describe the best I can. The stock is on a late '43 early '44 Quality Hardware & Machine carbine 4,764,xxx. In the sling well are the letters P-J. Who was this manufacturer? Looking at the top of the gun, next to the front of the receiver are letters U and A stamped in the wood. They are about 3/16 in height, vertical, along the left side. What do they signify? On the left side of the stock are proper car touches from the Benecia Arsenal (BA JPL) and San Antonio Arsenal (SSAA). THANKS in advance for your comments.

P-J marked stocks are replacement stocks. One possible manufacturer is Jamestown Lounge.

P-J is a war time replacement. Other marks indicate post war rebuild.

P to J
It is believed they were made by Pedersen Bothers in CT for Jewel Brothers in CT.
