Where did you end up finding this rifle? Look similar to one I saw recently but canít remember where. Donít think the CMP will have anything on this if itís an actual trophy rifle, which means it would have come out of army storage. Nice rifle, seems like a very specific collectors niche.

Gunbroker seller close to Fort Benning, I didn't know the Army still keeps a store of Garands.
Indeed, a collector's niche for sure, but I bought hoping it was one of the rifles that are often accurized before being handed out as trophies. It is not. But, Im satisfied with the investment as I did not get hurt on the price for what it is, which is essentially a new rifle.

That said, I believe I am needing a more "used" rifle now, or maybe several; and THAT feeling leads me to believe I may be possibly developing an affliction from which I may never quite recover. Even worse, my son has also developed symptoms.

Main US Army stock of M-1s is in Anniston Army Depot. Seller may be a USAMU veteran.

Try contacting Jim Adell at jim_adell@hotmail.com. Jim is on the board of Directors for the Garand Collectors Association and offers a free documentation service for trophy rifles awarded by the Secretary of the Navy. He may have some information of the rifles awarded by the Secretary of the Army or at least may be able to point you in a direction to find out more information.
