Have not had a chance to inspect very close. Did a quick field strip. Wanted to get these pictures up. Remington Rand receiver and slide. Beautiful condition. Only marks are very hard to see scratches. From storage and handling. No wear marks even inside of slide. The only part that looked used was the recoil spring guide. All other parts look new. And seem to correspond with a 1943 Remington. Barrel has a small P on side of the lug at rear. Which indicates an early production Remington barrel. 1943. SN 1339583 I think I really lucked out! Very, very happy! Worth all the stress and hoops to jump through! Thank you CMP!

Received my "Luck of the Draw" between Field and Service Grade today. Was not given a choice, but didn't sweat it much, I was just glad to get in the first round. Credit Card was hit couple days later with Service Grade charge so figured that's what I was getting. I was not disappointed!

Here is the beauty I picked up on Friday. Pulled it apart as far as I was comfortable and greased it up for a trip to the range. Late model Ithaca with a Colt slide. I believe the barrel to be a Colt barrel. I am thinking the safety might be Ithaca and not sure of the hammer or any of the other parts. Great looking service grade pistol that I am happy to own.

My RGN was 3805 and I received a very nice 1944 1911A1 Remington Rand frame and slide on March 21st. It came with a Colt wide spur hammer and a Colt “F” barrel that appears almost black in color. I am guessing it is Du-Lite. The pistol has a handsome parkerized finish but not fresh. Only one rebuild stamp. A 4 83. I am very excited to own this piece of history.

I was finally able to get to the range to shoot my new pistol. It ran perfectly with all my mixed bag of magazines. I fired about 200 rounds from 5 yards to 25 yards. It shoots a little low but very consistent groups. Dang, when did they miniaturize those sights! Or is it just my worn out old eyeballs?
