Default SERVICE Grade Ithaca with Colt Slide

CMP Order # 6900. Received at FFL on 07/12/2019. SERVICE GRADE.

Ithaca M1911A1 shipped 11/17/44 to the Naval Supply Dept, Oakland, CA.
Rebuilt by the USMC during January 1981 at Albany, GA logistics center. Stamped with rebuild code "A 181". Refinished in a gray/green Parkerizing.

Colt slide is from a WW2 pistol with serial # after 1,208,673. No serial # on rear of slide under firing pin stop. Typical Type 9 Colt logo. I would like to trade this slide for an Ithaca slide of equal quality and color. Send me a PM if interested.

New circa 1980 S & W chrome-lined replacement barrel. Looks like nothing has gone through it except the test-firing shots. I fired 14 rounds of G.I. hardball offhand @ 15 yds. Good accuracy hitting at point-of-aim. (See target picture below.)

The magazine that came with the pistol from CMP is a well-worn G.I. mag. with no markings.

As-received, the pistol was lubricated. I field stripped, wiped clean including bore, and re-lubed before firing. Overall, finish has a few handling or storage marks, but is excellent at 97%+. Metal is smooth with no evidence of prior corrosion.

RNG number was 7680. got my number on 2-19-2019. Was called late afternoon 7-17-2019 and selected field grade. The young lady I talked to could not have been any nicer over the phone !!!

My 1911A1 has a Colt frame with a RR slide. The frame was made 1945. I can not find and arsenal rebuild markings. The 2 close ups are the only marking other than RR on the slide. I think the number 65 by the trigger is a assembly mark. Then the inspector initials. An ordinance inspection stamp. Proof mark stamp. verification mark stamp. And what looks like a small star above the VP stamp.

The gun shoots like a dream and is accurate !! I could not be any happier. People who thought these guns were rattle traps, rust bucket , junk and any other name could not have been more wrong !!!

Thank you CMP !!!

Sorry everyone . here are the other pictures. Got the call on wednesday 7-17 and picked it up on 7-20

Received my Field grade. RR frame, Colt slide. Is anyone able to tell me what the "402" stamped on the left side of the frame means.

Images from my service grade 1919 1911 received on 7/20. Would appreciate a comment or two on the mag button. Poyer IDs it as postwar? I tried to hit all pertinent stuff while I was breaking her down for cleaning and resolving a grip bushing issue. Going into the program,I wanted a gun with some history and I feel like I hit the jackpot from that standpoint.

Default Remington Rand Service Grade

So it has taken me a while to figure out how to post pics... Let's see how this goes...

RNG: 6030 notified 2/7/19
Selected/Contacted: 06/05/19 9:30am Central
Grade Offered: all 3
Selected: Service
CC hit: 06/06
Shipped: 06/06
Arrived at FFL: 06/07
Picked up: 6/12/19
Manufacturer Received: Remington Rand frame / Remington Rand slide / New production barrel marked .45 Auto over 7791193 (from late 60's on?) / Mix of smaller parts / Little bit of ‘shelf wear’ but dark repark looks untouched since last rebuild?
Serial # 1791744 - shipped from factory: September 1944
VERY happy... exactly what I was hoping for. Funny thing, I was really hoping to get pistol where I would be able to still see crossed cannon stamp. Funny the things we 'hope' for...
CMP took VERY good care of the 'Old Chief'
