Where in the heck did you find all the S'G' parts??? Our S'G' #'s are only 18,686 apart. Closest I've found yet. My S'G' was a racker and not a BR. Ya did a bang up job saving the barrel and action fro the trash bin.
Great job!

This one kind of got away from me. I was planning on building up a mix-master, maybe a repro Paratrooper, but I found a few correct parts...and a few more...and...well, I had to finish her after that.

Underwood "B" 26542XX NS hand pick, no reason tag but some very light rust
Undwerood 12-43 barrel, flaming bomb, ME 1.75
Slide: AU (Wareagle)
Flatbolt .U. (Wareagle)
Triggergroup .U. (Wareagle) with JAO flip safety and CC mag catch
EU front sight (ebay)
AU recoil plate (Mozzer)
IU mag (CMP)
Type III band and various pins/springs (Fulton Armory)
Milled Hemphill rear sight (Collector Source)
M-U stock and handguards (u136953) Faint UEF/GHD stamp, FAT 72 stamp

Total into the gun including the BR itself ~$650-700. The big question was the barrel band. There was a dark shadow from at Type III that would never go away, so I had to add one. IMO a flip sight looks wrong with a bayonet lug, so that decided that as well.

Keep them coming guys. GITM just might give us a sticky yet if we get everyone who got a BR to post pics and info. Bolt-less carbines are one thing, for those of us that started with JUST a barrel and receiver it's another.
Hope he's watching

Here's my pair of IBMs. I'm more of a Garand guy so I had precious few spares for these so I had to buy it all. The only thing I had was the wood (IR marked low wood and one new production that i picked up for nothing in a package deal) and the slings (one repop, one WW2 era).

This would be a "worst case" scenario for cost. I consulted the usual sources as the price all up was $495 each. So, not a real "deal" per se, but in terms of fun per hour, not a bad return.

Below are the prices across several suppliers and the far right hand is what I actually paid. I'm sure you can do better if you're willing to haunt the gunshows, but I figure this is a nice baseline for those similarly inclined.
