The short stroke gas system of the carbine renders it immune to the effects of differing burning rates of the powders used, and the design of the operating rod makes it quite rigid and unlikely to be damaged by slow burning powders as can happen with the M1 rifle's oprod. You can shoot MOST commercially available .30 carbine ammo with little or no concern, the only stuff I've run across that bothered me was headstamped A-Merc and was lousy with split/burst cases of every description. Not typical of modern .30 carbine ammunition.
