Default Reusing Spent 7.62 NATO Blank Brass

Iíll bet this subject has been hashed over before but I couldnít find it so here goes, Can spent 7.62 NATO blanks be trimmed up and reloaded to fire live rounds? I have a bunch of old spent blanks and if I canít reload them I may just sell them for the scrap brass price.

Ditto, scrap them.

I checked some of the rounds in my collection and it appears to me that the neck length on the blanks is shorter than rounds with a bullet so the OCL will be to short. Have never sectioned one of these blank cases but fairly certain there will not be a lot of brass up on the top of the neck and beyond. It will also be a lot of effort and Nato cases are not in short supply.

There's evidence that some people used this trimming to convert .30 blank cases to reloadable cases but this is a different creature, the .30 blanks are crimped and it may have been done to fake uncommon versions.

Most blank cases are cases that were rejected for regular ammunition during production for one reason or another. OK for blanks but not for full service loads. So guys have used them for reloading ammo and not had a problem but others have had lots of problems with them so I would say scrap them to be safe.

I should have added in post #2

That brass case is all that keeps the hot gas out of the rifle action and your EYES.
