Default Praise, support and sugestions

Awesome, great idea. We use something similar from IBM (Tivoli Service Request Manager) to track computer assets where I work, and this Gun Software has similar if not more functionality when it comes to asset tracking. I had allways wondered if asset tracking software could not be applied to firearms.

Two sugestons, perhaps a next step.
The first would be to make it run as a server side application, where clients could connect to a server in the shop from any computer, or touchpad device. Very handy if your on the go.

Another would be a Work Order/Service request system into the software. For example, a Work Order could be generated for any asset in the system. This work order would detail the work to be done on the rifle. etc etc.

With this the Gunsmith could simply open up his IPAD and it connects to the server, and he sees his jobs in a list, and the rifle assets he has to work with. You could even add the ability to attach an asset(gun) to a particular Work Order/Service Request. And You could have multiple smiths working off one Work Order que.

Just thinking aloud of some things commonly seen in IT ticket tracking/asset tracking software.

Yup! Working on it now, along with Android version, so stay tuned over the next couple weeks. The thing is the first beta may only be available on Android as a) I have an android phone and tablet b) I'm pretty sure you'd have to jailbreak your iphone to install the beta as it won't be on the market.

But once it works the way we want with basic functionality, I'll release it on the iphone too. It uses the same code; it's just that Apple makes things very, very, very annoying when it comes to having people test before release (and their process is annoying for actual releases too).

But yep, being worked on!

Oh yeah, also probably Blackberry as well.

Not going to happen in this version -- privacy and security are primary concerns for users and the typical user doesn't want data to leave their system.

Now, that said, I have been planning an FFL/Gunsmith version with functionality like that.

Currently I personally use Dropbox, which is integrated into the program, to store my database so I can access it from anywhere.

Good ideas for the FFL version! I'll add them to the ToDo list!

Have the software and love it. It helps me stay on top of my bound book so much better than the old excel spreadsheet did.

One suggestion - when adding a new firearm record, can the program automatically go to that new entry? As it is now, it appears down in the list and you have go look for it to enter the new firearm's particulars. Thanks!

Crap. I must have broken that recently. I'll look into it for next release.

As many as needed -- while that means my software can be pirated more easily, too many of my users are in the same situation as you (including myself!) so early on I decided to make it not be tied to a specific machine.
