From what I've seen posted around the inter-web, lot of guys think it takes a substantial amount of legwork & rig-a-ma-roll to qualify to purchase a CMP 1911.
Think that will keep many from pursuing one. I see less than 40,000 applications arriving during the lottery harvest month

I think they will get 75-100k but a quarter to half of that will not meet the paper work requirements. It amazes me how people cannot, or will not follow specific written direction.
Edit: Mine is complete, with FFL data sent, and packet ready to go priority USPS (for tracking) the morning of 04SEP18.

Um, I think the poll choice you are searching for is "60,001 to 70,000"

Gentlemen, a short history lesson for those of you who either forgot about this, or were never aware of it...

On Thursday, Januray 28, 2016, the CMP sent out a sales newsletter that stated...

Limited Number of M1 Carbines available

Monday, February 1, (2016) we will begin accepting orders for a limited number of M1 Carbines for mail order. Two grades will be available, Service and Field. They include the following manufacturers; Inland, Winchester, IBM, Quality Hardware, Saginaw, Standard Product and Underwood. The manufacturer you receive will be luck of the draw, please no requests. Each customer is limited to one total Carbine this year. You will not be allowed to purchase both a Service and Field Grade. You may put down your first choice and second choice.

We DO NOT time stamp orders, we only date stamp them. All orders received the same day are put in one basket.

On Monday, February 1, 2016, the CMP received 23 tubs of mail that included over 5000 orders for a little over 1000 carbines on hand. They hoped to receive 1000 more carbines in the next week.

This information came directly from the CMP sales email (I still have mine, I received it at 5:15PM on Thursday, 1/28/16) and from a post by Mark Johnson right here on the CMP forum.
http://forums.thecmp.org/showthread....ders...&page=4

In summary... One email, four days (one of them a Sunday) and 5000 orders.

This 1911 release has been anticipated for a long time, with articles in NRA publications, internet blogs, other magazines, etc. It's been talked about on forums all over the internet. It's been in the news. The order packet has been made available three months prior to accepting any orders. The order acceptance period is an entire month.

Whoa! Some of you still think the CMP could receive less than 10,000 order packets?

Back to the history lesson. I received a nice Winchester service grade carbine on 2/23/16 from that release... http://forums.thecmp.org/showthread.php?t=183405
I hope I didn't use all my luck up with that order.

Good luck to all who send in a 1911 order packet!

Bet people post their numbers here so we will get an idea. You know, "I got # 45,000 so I won't get one this year. Or Next. ".

I'm sure there will be an "Order Timeline Thread" that will include information something like this...

Processing Sequence#:
Date received call:
Grades available:
Grade selected:
Processing date:
Shipping date:
Result summary:
